With 2006 year-end FEC filings coming in, it look as though Arizona Sen. John McCain spent the most in preparation for a run at the White House.

The Washington Post reports McCain spent $7.8 million lat year on political activity, more than double the $3.4 million spent by Illinois Sen. barack Obama.

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani spent $2.1 million and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney $2.1.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton spent $1.7 million on presidential political activity, but millions more on her Senate campaign.
